I woke up around 5 am to discover my flight has been delayed 45 min. Nothing to be done at this point. I have to drop the car off by 9 am so I’m just going to be at the airport for another hour. Time to download more movies/TV on the iPad!
I puttered around the room as I got ready and decided to head out as soon as I got bored with all that. I took everything to the car and got on my way, and it only took 20 minutes to get to Heathrow. I dropped the car off at Enterprise, and the very nice guy that came out to meet me had the misfortune to ask how it went.
So I told him. We totaled up how much I had spent on superchargers and it was over 100 pounds in just a few days, which isn’t right. He apologized for the frustration and time and refunded me 150 pounds for the chargers and the trouble, which…made a big difference in whether I’m going to use Enterprise again.
He got me on a shuttle to my terminal and I was able to get my bag checked and through security with minimal drama. I got breakfast at a restaurant and sat for a while, then found a place in the terminal to lurk until my gate was called. I read for a bit, worked on my Bletchley park cyphers, and wrote for a little while.
Around 11 or so I got notified that my gate had been announced, and it was a 15 minute walk, so I trekked over and found the gate and a tuna and cucumber sandwich for lunch. A short while later we boarded. See y’all Stateside.
We landed around 4 and we had to go through customs, which was exponentially more dumb than at Heathrow. Even though I have Global Entry they made us all stand in a long long because they now want us to use an app that none of us knew about. Ugh.
After I got through customs and got my bag I had to go find a taxi which…the ride share area at Dulles is hot garbage any time of day, but it was especially bad today. Half an hour later, me and my driver escaped and got on our way back to DC. Dulles needs to get their crap together…
