Our adventure to Scotland first started in Louisiana, as we planned for Dad to fly to DC first, so that we could pack and fly out together. However, the night before Dad's flight was meant to leave from Monroe, LA we both started getting alerts that the flight was delayed. Between 11:30 pm and 10 am the next day (the flight was meant to leave at 7:45 am!) the flight time was changed at least five times. Dad finally was able to get out of Louisiana around 9:30, which meant he was too late for his connecting flight from Atlanta to DC. Luckily Delta found and booked him on a flight that left only an hour later than the first one, and after he made the epic trek across the Atlanta airport, he was able to find a (very expensive) beer and relax for a few minutes. Almost as soon as he finished his beer, he had to hop onto his next flight, from Atlanta to DC. The flight was right on time, and I picked him up from the airport so that we could make the short drive to my apartment across from the National Cathedral. After we got settled in, we took a quick walk around the Cathedral to enjoy the nice weather, and then I made us salmon and strawberry shortcake for dinner.
