So I'm not going to be sharing too much about this goal. I hadn't talked to a professional since I was 11 or so when my parents divorced, and being a child and being told by an adult that it wasn't your fault your parents were getting divorced is extremely confusing. Especially when you know it wasn't your fault, and being told that seems like a weird observation for an adult to need to make to a child.
So it's been a minute.
I do have anxiety and from time to time, when I'm really stressed it gets...interesting. My solution to most of my anxiety is to just lean into planning. So my first exercise was to go to a restaurant I had never been to, and not do any research about it. How do you go to a restaurant you've never been to and do no research, you might ask? You tell your friends and have them plan it without telling you.
And it went awesome. They picked Jinya Ramen Bar in Georgetown and it was phenomenal. I had gone for a long run that morning so I had a huge bowl of tonkotsu ramen and tried their takoyaki (also amazing). It was a really good time, I had no idea where we were going and I didn't feel the need to plan. The ramen was so good I planned on coming back to carb load before the marathon in October. Did have some slight anxiety before we caught the bus, but overall pretty fine.
